Artice Linta

Artice Wanita Linta, age 95, of Alliance, died at 1:02 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Community Care Center.
She was born Nov. 13, 1913 in Crawford County, Ohio to Harvey S. and Vera Fay (Seibel) Pfahler. Mrs. Linta moved to Alliance in 1958 from Galion, Ohio.
A graduate of Leesville High School, Mrs. Linta was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
She was also a member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary and the Alliance Senior Center.
Wanita enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, and reading and was a life long sports enthusiast. She was an avid Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers fan. Along with her late husband, she frequently attended games in Cleveland for more than 60 years. More recently, she watched nearly every televised game. She provided her nephew her opinion recently of this year's Indian's pitching rotation.
She missed very few Alliance High School or Mount Union home football games. Mrs. Linta has now moved on to be seated forever on the 50 yard line with her friend and beloved husband of 64 years.
Survivors include nephews, John McDonough of Crestline, Ohio and Thomas (Connie) McDonough of Indianapolis, Indiana; nieces, Kathleen Rezanka of Merritt Island, Florida, Donna Stowe of Melbourne, Florida, Mary Ellen (Jim) Paynter of Riverview, Michigan and Patricia (Rev. Clint) Kinney of Indianapolis, Indiana; thirteen great nieces and nephews; and fourteen great-great nieces and nephews.
Wanita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Louis D. Linta, whom she married Aug. 24, 1940, and who died Sept. 8, 2004, and one sister, Marie Pfahler McDonough.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Galion, Ohio at a later date.
