Ida E. Diehl

October 18, 1933 — July 22, 2018

Ida Elizabeth (Bennett) Diehl passed away on July 22, 2018, at the age of 84, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio.
She was born October 18, 1933, in Sinnamahoning, Pennsylvania, to Esther Idella and Layton Brooks Bennett, the sixth of eight children.
Some of her childhood memories were of their home being washed away in a flood and riding a train to school in a neighboring town (where sometimes her brother, Ed, would play hooky, staying on the train playing cards all day). At age 18, she married Bill Henry and moved to Ohio. She and her only sister, Blanche "BI" married brothers, Bill and Rich Henry, both couples having two daughters and a son, resulting in double cousins. In her younger years she tended bar at the Harrisburg Inn, Naborhood Inn and The Lounge in Sebring.
Ida was predeceased by her parents; daughter, Cheryl Hemphill; sister, Blanche "BI" Henry; brothers, Harold, Bob, Milton and Ed Bennett; great-grandson, Joshua Huff; nephews, Tom Bennett and Brian Bennett; nieces, Joan Bennett and Linda Cross; son-in-law, Bob Lama; her children's father, Bill Henry; good friend, Charlie Durrell and husbands, Allyn Jones and Rutherford "Doc" Diehl.
While married to Doc, she lived in Many, Louisiana, for 18 years, returning to Alliance 20 years ago, where she lived at the Towers, making many friends there. Two years ago she moved to Crandall Medical Center in Sebring where she was lovingly cared for and a favorite of many. Thank you all for what you did for her, you're the best!
Survivors include her son, Willy (Char) Henry; daughter, Elaine Lama; brothers, Pete (Ursula) Bennett and Jim Bennett; grandchildren, Mitzi (Steve Sams) Coe, Heidi (Mark) McMickens, Michael (Carol) DeGroff and Dustin (Nawal) DeGroff; great-grandchildren, Roy (Carri) Heller, Ashley (Jesse) Huff, Marissa and Miranda McMickens, Evie DeGroff, Rohan DeGroff and one on the way; great-great grandchildren, Rayne and Bella; and many nieces, nephews and "adopted" daughter, Lori Groves.
Ida loved to dance (especially square dancing), playing bingo, cards and slot machines. She was always on the go. The last few years, she was confined to a wheelchair so we know she is running all over Heaven enjoying her loved ones there. Rest in peace Pretty Mama and know how much you are loved and missed. Until we meet again.
Services will be held at Noon, Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Kirk Martin officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday July 31st and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
