George W. Rhome

George W. Rhome, age 86, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord at 7:50 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2018, at Community Care Center in Alliance.
He was born May 1, 1932, in Garrison, Pennsylvania to Walter Edison and Edna Isabell (Main) Rhome.
A 1950 graduate of Hundred High School in Hundred, West Virginia, George worked at Ohio Edison for 43 years as a lineman, and then became a system dispatcher before retiring in 1994. In 1968 George started Rhome Trucking, which in 1977 became known as K&D Truck Service.
George was a member of First Church of God, and former board member. He loved his church and helping with the Boy Scouts.
He was past Secretary/Treasurer for the AFL-CIO, and enjoyed working at his garage, and spending time with his family. George loved driving on country roads, traveling back and forth to West Virginia.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Carol (Stewart) Rhome of Alliance; children, Sandra (Mark) Poe of Burton, West Virginia, Kenny (Kim) Rhome, Roger (Tracy) Rhome, Ronnie (Missi) Rhome, sister, Eileen (Dave) Smith, all of Alliance; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Debbie Castina Rhome; sisters-in-law, Marlene Stewart Rhome and Patsy Ruhl-Rhome, all of Alliance; and many many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis "Denny" Walter Rhome, two grandsons, Jonathan Allen Rhome and Ronald Douglas Rhome, Jr.; great-grandson, Carson Michael Ross; two brothers, Robert Edison Rhome and Arthur Clayton Rhome; and son-in-law, Timothy Hayes I.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the First Church of God co-officiated by Pastors Dale Gruver and Jack Ruble. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
