Marilyn J. Snode

Marilyn Jane Anderson Snode passed away June 15, 2018 at 89 years old.
Born October 13, 1928 in Alliance, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Alexander B. Anderson and Edith (Anderson) Anderson and sister of the late Barbara Anderson Pherson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Melvin J. Snode.
Marilyn was a graduate of Alliance High School and active in numerous community and civic organizations. For many years, she served as Regent of the Jane Bain Chapter of the D.A.R. and as the secretary of the Lexington Ruritan Club. Marilyn was a member of Modern Homemakers and a member of Science Hill Community Church for over 50 years. Marilyn led the preservation of the historic one room Science Hill School in Lexington Township and was active in the Science Hill Historical Society. She had a lifelong interest in history and was an ardent genealogist, compiling family history that she shared with her many descendants. She was especially proud of her Scottish heritage.
Marilyn is survived by seven children and their spouses, 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Her children are: Connie (John) Flynn of Kent, Ohio; Lorie (John) Merryman of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; Pam (Charles) Boone of Bolivar, Ohio; Mark (Sheree) Chapman of Easley, South Carolina; Trudy Porter of Alliance, Ohio; Deb Chapman of North Canton, Ohio; and Rick (Laura) Snode of Alliance, Ohio.
She also leaves behind her lifelong friend of 85 years, Jane Zeigler Nupp of Westminster, Maryland, her nieces: Cindy Pherson Leppo of Hudson, Ohio and Janette Pherson of Westford, Massachusetts.
Calling hours will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday June 20th at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Thursday June 21st at 10 a.m. at Science Hill Community Church, 12316 Beeson St. NE Alliance, Ohio 44601 with Pastor Jonathan Truax officiating.
Burial will follow at Marlboro Cemetery in Marlboro Township.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Science Hill Community Church.
Marilyn's family would like to thank Brookdale Assisted Living and Brookdale Hospice for their excellent care.
