Helen Stoia

July 26, 1924 — June 26, 2017

Helen Stoia
7/26/24 - 6/26/2017
Born in Alliance, Ohio

Preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, God and fate would have them together again. God called Helen to join her husband, Nick Stoia, who died just one month ago. We have been blessed to have had her for 92 years on this earth. Helen married Nick in 1951. They attended Alliance First Friends church for many years. They resided in Alliance, but also spent some of their winters in LeHigh Acres, FL.
She was employed as a secretary to Mr. Pinks at B&W prior to marriage. After having children she stayed home to raise them and worked helping Nick purchase and fix up houses in Alliance. In her earlier years, Helen was actively involved with Stonecroft Bible studies and was very instrumental in helping Romanian immigrants come to the U.S.
Helen was a quiet, sweet soul. Her love of Jesus shined through her compassion toward others and her generosity. Her favorite pastime was reading the non-fiction books she would have delivered by the boxful from the library. Helen was a prayer warrior. She prayed faithfully for family and friends because she knew prayer was powerful. Helen gave her life to Christ and confidently knew where she would spend eternity. (John 3:16) Her hope was in the Lord. Although she will be deeply missed, her family has peace because of the hope they have in the Lord. Isaiah 40:29-31 "He gives strength to the weary, and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Survivors include her children; Nick Stoia (Sharon), of Irmo South Carolina, and Mary Lynn Simmons Alliance; grandchildren, Jeff Simmons (Amy), Jennifer Forrest (Andy), Brett Stoia (Kristin), and Aubree Stoia; great-grandchildren: Dylan and Drew Simmons, Hayley, Torrie, and Audrey Forrest; brothers-in-law, Walter Hank, and Ralph Stoia (Loretta).
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Dan and Helen Codrea who were immigrants from Romania; brother, Danny Codrea (Jean), brother, Johnny Codrea (Jenny), sister, Alice Hank, sister-in-law, Isabelle Stoia, and son-in-law, John Simmons
