Gregoria E. "Gloria" Milan

Gregoria E. "Gloria" Milan, age 92, of Alliance, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017.
She was born May 12, 1925, in Reno, Nevada to Elias Duvaras and Eugenia (Hildenbrandt) Duvaras.
An outstanding and award winning piano, organ, music theory and harmony teacher of youth and adults for over 50 years, she was also active as an officer with the Young Musician's Club, and advisor for the Alliance Music Study Club.
She was active with her church, St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday School and VBS teacher for over 20 years, and as a member of the Women's Bible Class and WELCA.
While her husband, John, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, she was a secretary to a colonel and measured tank shells for quality control at the Aberdeen Proving Ground Army Base in Maryland.
Gloria loved her pet poodle, Rocky. She enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her three daughters, Rev. Dr. Jean Simpson of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, Suzanne (Erich) Teutsch of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and Christine (David) Marschinke of Alliance; one son, John F. (Kathy) Milan, III of Alliance; nine grandchildren: Lois Jean (Austin) Leino, Christina (Steve) Burke, Erika (Kevin) O'Mara, Johann (Kate) Teutsch, Lieutenant Colonel Christian Teutsch, Heidi Teutsch, Anna (Allen) Topping, Elizabeth (Brett) Marriner, and Beth (Greg) Mueller; fourteen great-grandchildren, including: Peter, Abbie, Savannah, Thomas, Jacob, Owen Mason, Allison, Katelyn, Seth, Zoey, and Aryana.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John F. Milan, Jr., whom she married December 16, 1942 and who passed away on December 3, 2010.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with The Rev. Timothy Muse officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church or Abiding Savior Lutheran Church toward their music programs, or the Young Musicians Club toward youth scholarships.
