Gennie Grove

Gennie Grove, age 88, of Alliance, passed away at 9:05 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Aultman Hospital.
She was born September 26, 1928 in Alliance to Jacob and Maria (Stanciu) Forgoros.
Gennie attended Alliance High School and was employed by the former O'Neil's department store as a buyer and was later the manager at the Burger Hut restaurant for several years.
A member of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church she was active in the circle two of the church, Gennie enjoyed to cook, sew, and crochet. She also enjoyed to travel to Pittsburg, Florida, Columbus, California, and Oregon and loved to be with her family.
Gennie will be loved and missed by her family, which includes her sons; Augie of Alliance, Philip J. (Jodie) of Alliance, Andrew D. (Susan) of Alliance and Alan D. (Pam) of Largo, Florida; daughter, Mary Ann (John) McAllister of North Canton; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, John Forgoros of Portland, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, August "Gus" Grove Sr., whom she married August 17, 1946, and who died January 7, 2001; sister, Mary Furcalow; brothers, Johnny, who passed away as an infant, and Nick.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. John Nemes officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4682 Douglas Circle, NW Canton, Ohio, or to the American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad St. Canfield, Ohio 44406.
