Donna R. Arbogast

August 26, 1929 — March 13, 2018

Donna Rae (Davis) Arbogast of Alliance, Ohio and Ft. Myers, Florida passed away on March 13, 2018 after a long, well fought fight with Alzheimer's.
Donna was born in Akron, Ohio and grew up in Stow, Ohio where she graduated from Stow High School. She attended Hiram College and was affiliated with Delta Chi Delta sorority. A social butterfly and life of the party, Donna was a drummer in an all-girl band.
She and her loving husband, Bob were married July 1, 1949 and lived in Cuyahoga Falls for 15 years. With a particular love for reading and grammar, Donna worked at Taylor Memorial Library. In 1964 the family moved to Alliance, Ohio where she was an elementary school librarian and later, the Lexington School Secretary from which she retired in 1984.
Donna's special love was her husband, their children, grandchildren and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Willard Davis, and her loving husband Robert (Bob) Arbogast. She leaves her daughter, Gail and husband, John Thorpe, Gail's children, Dusty, Devin and Denny, as well as great-grandchildren. She leaves her son, Robert (Rob) and wife Rebecca (Becky), and their children, Robert and Sarah.
Donna and Bob were enthusiastic cross-country travelers and were frequently joined in their motor home by their family and friends. They belonged to the Pace Arrow Motor Home Club, traveling to the majority of states, including a summertime adventure to Alaska.
In 1990, Donna and Bob bought their winter home in Ft. Myers, Florida, where Donna became deeply involved with their neighborhood pool and community. Never dull, Donna taught line dancing, participated in and directed several community productions featuring singing, piano, dancing, and over-the-top costumes - including her red boa scarf!
Donna's hobbies and talents were many and you could frequently find her writing, painting, gardening, crafting, dancing and playing piano. She never met a song that didn't need her singing or dancing skills! She was an avid collector of antiques, teddy bears, automobiles, lamps, clocks, glass and memories. A fashion maven, Donna singlehandedly kept Chico's in business.
Donna loved life, and embraced each day to the fullest. She was a member of several notable clubs, including Order of Eastern Star No. 926, Marigolds, Red Hats, Country Bridge Club and National Rose Society. She was most proud of being an elite member of the "I survived Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma 6 times" club.
She was loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2018, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
